Microsoft’s CEO: Being an Xbox fan means playing Xbox games on “all your devices”

A gaming year that began with shocking news that Microsoft would bring one of its top Xbox and PC games to a rival console is winding down with the company’s CEO signaling that the company would like to do more of that kind of thing.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella laid that out during a Q&A at the end of Microsoft’s annual shareholder meeting last week, in remarks that appear to have been missed by the gaming press and fans—perhaps with many distracted by the hype for The Game Awards or because they are already numb to company bosses’ push for a multiplatform gaming strategy).
Nadella had been asked by Microsoft investor relations vice president Brett Iversen to reflect on the company’s $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard, a year after its closing.
The CEO cited Microsoft’s current Xbox marketing campaign, which shows a wide range of machines, including Xbox consoles, TVs, VR headsets and PCs, and declares “This is an Xbox.” Nadella said the campaign is an example of how the company is “redefining what it means to be an Xbox fan: it's about being able to enjoy Xbox on all your devices.”
His full remarks also briefly promoted Microsoft’s console gaming future:
