My kids have thoughts about Nintendo’s new Princess Peach game

Last night, I asked my seven-year-old daughter what she thought of the Nintendo Switch game demo we’d just played: Princess Peach Showtime.
Her twin brother and I have played a lot of Switch games over the years, and she’d badly been wanting to play one starring Peach.
She’d started talking about that a year ago, when we played through a Paper Mario adventure in which Peach has a non-playable role. There should be a game where you play as Peach and talk to people, she told me at the time. There wasn’t anything like that for the Switch, I had to tell her.
Things changed. A few months ago, I told her that Nintendo finally announced a new Peach game, the first since 2005. She was thrilled.
Last night, I asked her why she’d been so eager for this moment.
“I wanted to play Princess Peach so I could be a girl,” she said, as she completed a forward roll on the couch.
